Transition words are words like ‘and’, ‘but’, ‘so’ and ‘because’. They show your reader the relationship between phrases, sentences, or even paragraphs. When you use them, you make it easier for your readers to understand how your thoughts and ideas are connected.

Using transitional phrases is a way to guide your reader from one thought to the next. You can also think of a transition as a sort of bridge between ideas or between paragraphs. Rather than leap from one idea to the next, a transitional word or phrase will offer connection and flow.

Use a Period (Full Stop) or a Semicolon before “However” A transitional phrase like “however” will usually start a new sentence, but if you would like a smoother transition than that afforded by a period, you can use a semicolon before it to merge the new sentence with the previous one.

CSS transitions provide a way to control animation speed when changing CSS properties. Instead of having property changes take effect immediately, you can cause the changes in a property to take place over a period of time.

The transform CSS property lets you rotate, scale, skew, or translate an element. It modifies the coordinate space of the CSS visual formatting model.

A general answer for a general question… Transitions can’t animate properties that are auto. If you have a transition not working, check that the starting value of the property is explicitly set. Removing it, and using opacity instead, fixed the issue.

Use max-height in the transition and not height . And set a value on max-height to something bigger than your box will ever get. See JSFiddle demo provided by Chris Jordan in another answer here. You should use scaleY instead.
