Rather than accessing Prime Video through your browser, there’s now a dedicated app offering all the features and adds offline viewing.

Open the Amazon Prime Video website on the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser. When the website loads, select the menu button on the top right corner denoted by three horizontal dots. Select Apps > Install this site as an app.

Amazon announced Friday it is shutting down its stand-alone Prime Now platforms and is directing users who want fast delivery on groceries and other goods to order them through the Amazon app or website. The Prime Now app and website will be retired worldwide by the end of this year, Amazon said.

You can’t download to a computer, for example — downloads are only permitted to mobile apps. That means you can’t store Amazon Prime videos on a laptop. And even on your phone or tablet, not everything can be downloaded.

Prime Video is available via a web browser on a computer running Windows, Mac OS, Chrome OS, or Linux.

How to Download and Play Amazon Prime Video on PC

1. Download and install BlueStacks on your PC.
2. Look for Amazon Prime Video in the search bar at the top right corner.
3. Click to install Amazon Prime Video from the search results.
4. Complete Google sign-in (if you skipped step 2) to install Amazon Prime Video.

If you visit Amazon Prime Video in a browser on Windows 10, you’ll see an option to download the specific show or film you’re interested in. Clicking that button will take you to the Amazon Prime Video app for Windows. Download that app and log in to your Amazon Prime account.

While Amazon announced it would phase out the Prime Now app and site, it’s not the end of the service. This means instead of going to a separate app or site you can access the service directly from Amazon. Amazon already phased out Prime Now in India, Japan and Singapore.

Amazon Fresh has an extensive grocery selection and is available in many locations but it has a longer delivery time. In contrast, Prime Now offers customers fast deliveries, arriving as soon as an hour after the order was placed, yet it is limited in food and pantry items.

You can use any desktop browser, such as Firefox, Safari, Chrome or Opera. Go to www.amazon.com in your browser. Type www.amazon.com into the address bar, and hit ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return on your keyboard.

All iOS users can download an Amazon Prime app, but Android users are not so fortunate. The only Android devices that support Amazon Video are Amazon’s own Kindle Fire tablets and Fire TV devices. The service is available for Roku set-top boxes, Apple TV, and most smart TVs, but not for Google Chromecast .

To watch any Amazon Prime or any videos through offline you had to buy or rent it. Only then will you be able to download the video and watch without an Internet connection. After this announcement, you will now be able to download Amazon Prime videos for offline viewing.
