An easy way to keep stainless steel shiny and streak-free is with Vim® Gel with Baking Soda. It contains a special polishing agent that degreases and removes limescale, watermarks and fingerprints, quickly and simply.

For recent issues usually just leave a wet dishcloth on top for a bit, then scrub clean. Vim is not ground fine enough for ceran top cleaning. Use a commercial cleaner they are less than five bucks a bottle! Vim can permanently damage your top.

In order to avoid damaging your glass-top stove, you should avoid pots and pans made from glass, stoneware, traditional ceramic, and cast iron that has not been crafted to be compatible with glass-top stoves.

Glass cleaners, like Windex, are a no-no. I know it seems logical to use a glass cleaner on a glass stovetop, but it’s not a good idea. The ammonia in the glass cleaner is too strong for cleaning a stove top and can lead to damage. A better alternative is white vinegar.

The best way to clean glass windows or tabletops is by using either a coffee filter or a microfiber cloth. In the end, using microfiber cloths or coffee filters is a bit easier and yields more or less the same streak-free shine a properly wielded squeegee would.

Rubbing alcohol (also known as isopropyl alcohol) can be used to help achieve a streak-free finish on your glass surfaces. After cleaning your windows with any of the above homemade solutions, finish by spraying the rubbing alcohol and water solution onto your glass surface. Wipe the surface with a clean, soft cloth.

Baking soda and vinegar are ideal cleaners for all of your windows. You don’t need to go spending money on expensive window cleaners. Be sure to wash your windows on a cloudy day so the heat of the direct sun will not cause streaks.

Vinegar isn’t only useful for cooking, though. It also makes a great cleaner and disinfectant because it’s made from acetic acid. The acidic nature of vinegar is so powerful it can dissolve mineral deposit, dirt, grease, and grime. It’s also strong enough to kill bacteria.

Although using baking soda and aluminum foil can quickly remove tarnish from silverware, some dealers caution against using it on antique silver, as it can be too abrasive and ruin the finish (especially if you’re unsure of the provenance and it’s possible that the pieces are not actually sterling silver).

Nothing dangerous happens when you mix baking soda and vinegar, but basically they neutralize each other and you lose all the beneficial aspects of the two ingredients.

This will kill any left-over mold and help prevent the mold from returning. For really tough black mold removal, mix two parts baking soda with one part white vinegar and one part water. Stir the mixture until it becomes a thick paste. Spread your mixture liberally onto the surface and let it dry.

Aluminum. It’s OK to use baking soda to clean your aluminum pots and pans, but it’s just important to remember to rinse them right after. “Baking soda can cause aluminum to oxidize,” says Jack Prenter, founder of Chore Bliss.
