Ulrich Stern is a member of the Lyoko Warriors, a student at Kadic Academy, and one of the five main characters of Code Lyoko. His romantic love interest is Yumi, whom he falls in love with during the series and often finds himself struggling with his romantic feelings for her.

Unlike the original Code Lyoko animated series, Evolution was never dubbed into English, and ran for a single 26-episode season, concluding in December of 2013. The season ended on a cliffhanger that will likely never be resolved, unfortunately, with MoonScoop having filed for bankruptcy in 2014.

In Evolution, William is clearly still in love with Yumi. He shows to be slightly seductive towards her in X.A.N.A. 2.0 by complimenting her hair and tries to give her love poems in Mutiny.

It was later revealed that he died protecting his daughter, gaining Jeremie’s multi-agent program enough energy to temporarily wipe out X.A.N.A.. After moving to the Hermitage near the Kadic Academy, he had taken his wife’s maiden name (Hopper) in order to make a fresh start and to stay hidden from his adversaries.

In Down to Earth, William is finally freed from X.A.N.A.’s control and returns to Earth. However, his behavior pre-X.A.N.A. causes tension between him and the rest of the Warriors (minus Aelita), who are reluctant to associate with him any further, as seen in Fight to the Finish.

Melee 4/5: Combining his two sabers and his martial arts techniques, Ulrich is almost the most powerful of the Lyoko Warriors in close combat.

In Code Lyoko Evolution, which takes place one year after the fourth season finale, it is shown that Ulrich has fully accepted his strong romantic feelings for Yumi by openly saying to Odd that he loves her and even refers to her as the “love of his life”.

Their first appearance is in episode 21 “Zero Gravity Zone”. Ulrich is thought to be an only child. Like the other heroes, he only sees his parents during holidays (Episode 82 “Distant Memory”), and when he isn’t scheming to get a week of detention…
