Band of Brothers continues to be one of the most legendary re-enactments of World War II even after more than two decades

Set against the war-torn backdrop of World War II, Masters of the Air – based on Donald Miller's book of the same name – depicts the plight of the 100th Bomb Group, commonly known as the Bloody Hundred, and the brotherhood created by veterans in the trenches of despair (quite literally and of course figuratively).

The miniseries — produced by Band of Brothers creators Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks — serves as a companion to the acclaimed 2001 HBO war drama and 2010's The Pacific.

As heartbreaking and emotionally compelling as Masters of the Air may be, however, it seems to have fallen short of the expectations that its revered predecessor so easily surpassed.
