Why? Since we've already thrown so much junk to the moon, why not a house? More likely, the registry assumes, money. As for space, it claims it is art.

"The Moon House is an artistic and epic story that Mikael [Genberg] has imagined for 25 years. The story of the Moon House, a small red house on the surface of the moon, will finally come to life with ispace leading to an iconic work of art filled with new possibilities and new ideas," the private astronaut explained.

Swedish artist Mikael Genberg is ispace's final payload customer for HAKUTO-R Mission 2, which is expected to land the Resilience lunar lander and Tenacious microrover on the Moon's Mare Frigoris in its northern hemisphere—a sun-drenched piece of prime real estate with a clear line of communication to Earth.
