Eli Roth's Borderlands may have to work harder in the coming weeks as the sci-fi film starring Kevin Hart and Cate Blanchett opens with a depressing box office showing. It also didn't help that it premiered alongside Blake Lively's romantic drama, It Ends With Us, as the latter caught the audience's interest immensely.

The big screen adaptation of Gearbox Software's famous video game received huge criticism from fans even before its opening day, and with the result of early review reviews, it seems like an uphill battle to at least turn a profit.

Lionsgate's Borderlands infamously received a zero approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes prior to its worldwide release. Regardless, this won't completely dampen the interest of fans who want to see the film for themselves.
