This toxic faction has gained an extra edge in this age of the internet, leading to intense backlash and exaggerated hate campaigns. The most recent example of this has been the cancellation of The Acolyte, a series that attempted to introduce a new plot set in the larger Star Wars universe. And Lucas already predicted that decades ago.
