A joint venture consisting of operators SoftBank, Singtel, SK Telecom, Deutsche Telekom and e& Group plans to develop a large language model (LLM) that they will use to automate customer service for the telecom sector.

What is an LLM router?

The Global Telco AI Alliance, as the entity styles itself, wants to create a specialized LLM because participants believe their effort will yield better results, faster, than working on a general LLM.

"Tariff and contract models, information about special hardware such as the router (eg How do I do a reset?) are rarely found in the general training data for the major models," the group noted in its launch announcement.

Participating operators have contributed existing customer service data to LLM, which is "currently being optimized" for five major languages.
