Insight Microsoft Dynamics 365 provides “field service management” that allows customers to monitor mobile service workers via smartphone apps – allegedly at the expense of their independence and dignity.

What is Dynamics 365?

According to an investigation by Cracked Labs – an Austrian non-profit research group – the software is part of a wider set of applications that discourage workers through algorithmic management.

The case study [PDF] summarizes how employers in Europe are actually using software and smartphone apps to monitor field technicians, domestic workers and cleaning staff.

It is part of a larger ongoing project led by the "Surveillance and Digital Control at Work" group, which includes contributions from AlgorithmWatch; Jeremias Adams-Prassl, Professor of Law at the University of Oxford; and the unions UNI Europa and GPA.
