Users may know the product better as the Remote Desktop client, but rebranding a product with a label that makes sense would never work, so we have the Windows app. A one-stop-shop for everything Windows.

The Windows app has been in preview for a while, and users of the Remote Desktop client received a notification that the rebrand was coming. It's designed to be a "unified experience," according to Microsoft. It will run on Windows, macOS, iOS, iPadOS and browsers, although the Android version remains in public preview for now.
