The biggest feature of Minecraft 1.20 Snapshot 23w04a is armor customization. The game now allows you to add a variety of patterns to your armor to create unlimited and truly unique wearables. This is possible with the help of the new "Smithing Templates – Armor Trims", which act as unique cosmetic designs for each piece of armor.
There are 11 armor trims in the game, and each of them creates a special structure in the game in all three dimensions, including the overworld, End, and Nether. Some trims are rarer than others, opening up a new collection challenge for players.
Additionally, you can choose from 10 color options while applying each armor trim, pushing the custom armor options even further. The color options mentioned are based on different ores in the game, ranging from diamond to lapis lazuli. Although, as you'd expect, the armor trim colors have to be different for it to work. For example, you cannot use a gold edge on gold armor.
