For those who are confused, Minecraft 1.21 and 1.20.5 are not the same update. The update released today is a minor update that includes a number of new features. The release date for the 1.21 update has not been announced yet, but it is suspected to be somewhere in June. The brand new features coming to the game with the 1.20.5 update are:
As you can see, the 1.20.5 update mainly adds the armadillo and wolf content, as well as lots of welcome bug fixes. Although we initially assumed that armadillos and their related content would arrive in the Minecraft 1.21 update, it's coming sooner. Additionally, this will be the first Java version of Minecraft that requires a 64-bit operating system.
The release of the 1.20.5 update has also brought changes to the Minecraft Launcher. It is possible to activate the homepage settings to turn the "News" tab into the "Home" tab. All important buttons and notifications will appear here, from the quick launch buttons to the news feed.
