If you've been keeping up with Google's hardware ambitions, you'd know that the company is working on its first ever tablet, set to launch next year. Well, at today's hardware launch event, Google not only introduced its flagship Pixel 7 series and the Pixel Watch, but also shared more information about the Pixel tablet. So let's take a look at the new details.

How to control your smart home with your Google Pixel tablet

Now, the first and most important thing that Google confirmed about the Pixel Tablet is the usability of the pogo pins on the back. Yes, the rumors are true. With the launch of a new Charging Speaker Dock, you'll be able to magnetically attach the Pixel tablet on top to use it as a smart display in your home.

"The dock keeps your device charged, makes your tablet usable 24/7 and unlocks a whole new set of experiences in the home," Google mentions in its official blog post. The Pixel Tablet-cum-speaker dock is a revamped version of the Google Nest Hub. It gives you hands-free access to Google Assistant when docked, control your smart home or view your Google Photos memories.

There's no word on audio output from the speaker dock, but it should be loud enough for an "enhanced" experience, according to Google. As for the internals, we've now learned that the Pixel Tablet will also be powered by the latest Google Tensor G2 chip – the same as the Pixel 7 series.
