The 1990s had a little something for everyone but Julia Roberts failed to fit into that category due to her working relationship with a director.

Heartbreaking news for Julia Roberts

The tragedy of being the most successful person at a job is that all eyes are trained on the star. For celebrities and filmmakers, that attention and scrutiny is multiplied tenfold by the nature of their profession. When it comes to Hollywood in the 1990s, Julia Roberts happened to be the most in-demand A-lister after the actress' endless acclaim after Pretty Woman.

Soon after, Robert's magical reputation spread like wildfire across Hollywood with filmmakers wanting to work with her on every upcoming project. Fortunately for her, the release of Pretty Woman in 1990 was immediately followed by a role opening in Steven Spielberg's Disney fantasy adventure film, Hook. What happened soon after would go on to become legendary.

Aside from the well-known power couples of the 1990s, namely Tom Cruise-Nicole Kidman, Brad Pitt-Jennifer Aniston and Johnny Depp-Winona Ryder, there was one that quietly slipped under the radar aka Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland. The couple, who were engaged to be married, ended in a tragic break-up days before their wedding after Sutherland was photographed with a young dancer by the ever-intrusive paparazzi. Other sources also indicate that Roberts allegedly called off the wedding because of her feelings for Jason Patric.
