Although NEBULOUS: Fleet Command is still in early access, the developers' love for the game saw it push out into a playable phase with an in-game multiplayer mode up and running. Although AI battles would still be solo, you can definitely duke it out with other space captains in this tactical space war zone.

This may be a deal-breaker for some who want to go through the stories of games like these with a friend as a co-pilot, there is still plenty of fun to be had when it comes to the available multiplayer options the game has.

Although true Co-Op against AI is not available in the game yet, there is a working multiplayer that allows you to build a team with other players to fight against an equally numbered enemy at the other end of the spectrum.
