Lately, layoffs have unfortunately become a common occurrence in the video game industry. Mortal Kombat's NetherRealm Studios is no exception as it recently let go of quite a few employees, including its mobile division team in an effort to restructure.
In a surprising turn of events, Injustice 2 stands firm with its community and will continue to receive support from the studio. However, this was not the case for Mortal Kombat: Onslaught as it announced that the game would be discontinued in September.
The Mortal Kombat franchise has been the defining factor for NetherRealm Studios for decades due to its engaging combat and iconic characters. In contrast, Injustice 2 has explored a different narrative, as it follows DC Comics' superheroes and villains packed into an intensely conflicted yet immersive world.
