James Bond producer Albert Broccoli was not convinced of Steven Spielberg's directorial skills even after the blockbuster Jaws.

Steven Spielberg was rejected by James Bond 3 TIMES

Steven Spielberg once revealed that he was twice turned down from doing a James Bond film. He said it was right after the success of his blockbuster, Jaws. When he approached producer Albert "Cubby" Broccoli, he told him that Spielberg did not have enough experience to direct a big budget film like James Bond.

However, Spielberg got the last laugh since he became one of the pioneering filmmakers in the industry. He has grown out of the spy thriller series, looking to reboot the character for a modern audience after Daniel Craig retired from the role.

James Bond films were brought to life by six different actors and directed by twelve different directors. Steven Spielberg could have joined the likes of Guy Hamilton, Martin Campbell and Sam Mendes had producer Albert Broccoli not turned him down. Spielberg shared the story of his rejection to Michael Ball on BBC Radio 2.
