A former NSA employee has been sentenced to 262 months in prison for trying to freelance as a Russian spy.

Who is Vadim Krasikov, Russian spy released by Germany in prisoner exchange?

In his arraignment yesterday, Jareh Sebastian Dalke pleaded guilty to six counts of attempted transmission of top secret information to a foreign agent notified by the US Department of Justice.

He had worked at the NSA as an information systems security designer for just under a month from June to July 2022, and made quick work of that short period by collecting top-secret National Defense Intelligence (NDI) documents.

Between August and September of that year, shortly after leaving the NSA, Dalke contacted a person he believed to be a Russian agent. To prove his "legitimate access and willingness to share," he then emailed the apparent spy excerpts of three top-secret, classified documents with NDI. Dalke then said he would be willing to sell all the documents and more for just $85k.
