One Piece fans have been questioning Shank's character ever since he was seen meeting the Five Elders during the Reverie arc. When the series started, Shanks was seen as a mentor figure trying to guide the next generation (Luffy) to achieve their dreams. But now the fans cannot build trust around him.
Although Shank's intentions are unknown, he has built quite a fan base as an Emperor of the Sea in One Piece. His fans have been hoping that Shanks would turn out to be a good character, and to support this, they have come up with several theories that would explain Shanks' mysterious actions in One Piece since the beginning.
One such theory was that Shanks had a twin who was part of the World Government, and he was the evil one. While there wasn't much evidence to support this theory, recent revelations in One Piece chapter 1121 spoilers may have just confirmed that fans have been seeing two Shanks all along, and Eiichiro Oda has been hinting at it all along.
