OpenAI has been mired in controversy recently. After Ilya Sutskever, chief scientist at OpenAI, left the company, Jan Leike, head of superalignment at OpenAI, also resigned, after reaching a "breaking point" with leadership over computing for security research. Now, to allay fears over security concerns, OpenAI has formed a safety and security committee.

"This new committee is responsible for making recommendations on key safety and security decisions for all OpenAI projects," OpenAI said in its blog. Along with that, OpenAI reveals that it has "recently begun training its next frontier model."
OpenAI says the next frontier model (unlikely to be called GPT-5) will redefine the limit of AI capability and the company foresees "the resulting systems to take us to the next level of capability on our path to AGI."
Before this announcement, during the launch of ChatGPT 4o, OpenAI CTO, Mira Murati said that the next big thing is coming, at the end of the event. And it seems that OpenAI is looking to release its next frontier model sometime in 2024.
