There is still a long time before the launch of the Pixel 9 series, and some details including high-resolution renders of the phones have already leaked. Additionally, the latest Android 15 Beta updates gave us a glimpse of a special upcoming feature called satellite connectivity. This would allow users to communicate with others without the internet.

Pixel 9: I have serious trust issues

A new leak suggests that the Pixel 9 series will get a new Exynos modem. This would not only help with the satellite connection, but potentially fix the infamous connection issues with the Pixels. The Exynos modem will make the Pixel 9 series support satellite connectivity at the hardware level.

The modem in question is the Exynos 5400. Popular Pixel tipster Kamila Wojciechowska learned via a Google insider that the upcoming Pixel 9 series and its upgraded SoC, the Tensor G4 will feature the Exynos 5400. It offers some upgrades over previous generations.

It is reportedly more energy efficient and faster. In addition, Kamila also suggests upgrading the software stack to support 3GPP Rel. 17. This would support non-terrestrial 5G networks, or in other words satellite connectivity.
