The ability to swipe down on the home screen to see the notification screen has been present in custom ROMs like MIUI, OxygenOS etc. and launchers for quite some time, and it is very handy, especially on large smartphones, as reaching the notification screen at the top is just tough . Well, the good news is that the Pixel Launcher in Android Q will bring swipe down to see notification gesture.

Swipe down issue for Google pixel notifications

The new Pixel Launcher feature has been spotted in Android Q Beta 5, and as you can see in the video below, it's working as it should.

Now, this feature comes at a time when there is news that gestures like these only work on system-installed launchers, like the Pixel Launcher or default launchers in MIUI and OxygenOS. So if you really liked this gesture or the plethora of gestures offered by Nova, Lawnchair, etc., you won't be able to use them in Android Q. Now, with that said, maybe developers can implement gestures in their launcher by tinkering with Android The Q source code, but that's something we'll have to wait and see.

Coming back to Pixel Launcher, it's great that it finally comes with a feature we've always wanted. I mean, we all know the Pixel 4 XL is going to be a huge huge smartphone without a physical fingerprint reader on the back, so a swipe down to access the notification center gesture should be very handy.
