Spanish police arrested a man they say is the leader of the notorious Scattered Spider cyber crime gang as he boarded a private flight to Naples.

It is the fruit of an investigation that began in May 2023 after the Los Angeles division of the FBI requested information about the man, who has not yet been named, when it became aware that he was spending time in Spain.
The suspect is described as a 22-year-old British national who first entered Spain via Barcelona's El Prat airport last May. The alleged mastermind is allegedly linked to attacks on 45 companies in the United States.
Scattered Spider's biggest hits include the massive SIM swap attack against Okta and digital Ocean's Eleven targeting Las Vegas casinos last year.
