At its 46th AGM held recently, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries shared its plan to build India-specific AI models and AI apps for various use cases in the country. To realize its ambition, Reliance has partnered with US GPU maker Nvidia to build a localized Large Language Model (LLM) for India.

Nvidia made this announcement in an official press release, stressing that it will partner with Jio, the telecom arm of Reliance Industries, to build AI infrastructure and generative AI apps that benefit netizens. Nvidia will provide its most advanced GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip and DGX Cloud infrastructure to enable Jio to build a customized LLM for "more than 450 million Jio users", which will be trained in India's diverse linguistic landscape.

Nvidia further adds that the scale of this collaboration will result in the creation of an infrastructure that will replace the "fastest supercomputer in India today."
