Is Doctor Doom the heroic villain the multiverse deserves?
WHY ROBERT DOWNEY JR RETURNS AS DOCTOR DOOM
The Russo Brothers surprised fans at Comic-Con 2024 by bringing in the new big villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Doctor Doom. Fans have wanted Victor von Doom to make his MCU debut since time immemorial and when Fantastic Four was announced, their demands only got louder and louder. However, Marvel has taken it a step further by bringing in Robert Downey Jr. to play the supervillain. Who would have thought?
Doctor Doom has a lot on his shoulders as he replaces not only Kang the Conqueror but also the Mad Titan Thanos. But the only thing that already separates Doom from Thanos is that, unlike the latter, the former is not a true villain. Don't get us wrong; while Doom has done some terrible things, he also helped save the multiverse, unlike Thanos who basically wiped out half of it.
Josh Brolin's Thanos left the Avengers in utter chaos as they scattered around to save the universe from the supervillain's warped plan. With his "snap" he was ready to eliminate half of the universe in a sick plan to bring balance. On the other hand, the new supervillain in the MCU is a bit different.
