Google has been pushing hard on the RCS front, as it looks to bring next-generation SMS to more users. A sure way to do that is to bring Samsung on board as a partner.

As announced in an official blog post, Samsung will partner with Google to provide Rich Communication Services (RCS) notifications to Android phones.

For those of you unaware, RCS messaging adds new features to standard SMS messaging, allowing you to do things like text over WiFi, see when someone is typing, use read receipts, create richer group chats, and send high-resolution images and video.

According to the official statement, Google and Samsung will ensure that their messaging clients, Android Messages and Samsung Messages, work seamlessly with each company's RCS technology, including cloud and business messaging platforms.
