Sending your phone in for repair can add to the inhibitions and rightly so, data theft is common these days. Samsung wants us to breathe a sigh of relief and has therefore introduced the repair mode, which will limit access to our data while the phone takes a trip to the workshop.

Samsung Support: Protect your privacy during repairs with maintenance mode

Samsung's Repair Mode, when enabled, blocks access to important data like your photos, messages and more while the phone is in for repair. Service providers will only be able to access the default installed apps to perform necessary repairs.

Before sending the phone for repair, you can turn on the mode in the "Battery and device care" option under Settings to hide data from others. The phone will reboot to activate the mode. After the phone is repaired, you can disable the repair mode by simply restarting the phone and verifying via the fingerprint sensor or the set pattern.

Shin Seung-won, managing director of the security team for Samsung Electronics' MX division, said: "Technology is connecting the world closer than ever, but the risks are also increasing. Samsung's top priority is customers, it's about making sure you're safe while trying this new experience."
