Who, me? Welcome back, to another Manic Monday, The Reg's very own fun day, where we celebrate the less celebrated moments in our readers' careers in a column we call Who, Me?

Little Kid forgot his IPhone password 🥺 #shorts

This week's hero is a reader who we will regomize as "Sylvester" who once worked for an IT provider in Austria. In the early 1990s, Sylvester was project manager for an assignment to install a new system for one of the major banks in Vienna, with a small complication: the building where the system was to run was not ready to host it.

The basement was still being converted into the IT hub it would become, but the bank needed to start operations. As a temporary solution, the admin console was installed in the building's long-defunct attic. It was dusty and messy, but had power and enough space. That would do.

Sylvester installed the machine and its Unix-based OS, plus of course an uninterruptible power supply (UPS – because who knows how reliable the power would be in an attic) and before too long it was all up and running.
