Fans will potentially miss out on one of their favorite features first introduced in Black Flag.

Who needs Assassin's Creed Shadows when you have this…

The upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows is all Ubisoft fanatics are talking about right now, and while much of it may just be about the controversy surrounding the protagonist, a new discussion has surfaced. Building on the previous installments of the franchise, the upcoming title is sure to bring in some aspects of parkour and stealth. But what many fans have been looking forward to is the implementation of naval combat, a feature that was seen in Assassin's Creed Black Flag and released in a separate game as a whole with the launch of Skulls and Bones earlier this year.

With games like Black Flag, Sea of Thieves, and Skulls and Bones, it's easy to observe the theme of sailing the high seas and living the glorious pirate life that has been all the hype in the gaming world for the past decade.

This is also why one user on a Reddit forum for the upcoming game was disappointed to discover that it would potentially not have open ship battles and similar mechanics, calling it "wasted potential".
