Not really. All the Godfather movies are intertwined with each other and the stories are connected. If you skip a part and start in between, you won’t be able to relate to the characters’ story archs and the great performances by the actors. Also the stories will not make sense.

In his 2012 analysis The Godfather Effect, writer Tom Santopietro claimed, “The film changed Hollywood because it finally changed the way Italians were depicted on film. It made Italians seem like more fully realised people and not stereotypes… it helped Italianise American culture.”

The Godfather is not an action movie. It’s a drama. Yes, it is one of the best movies ever made. The Godfather will always be worth watching especially if you haven’t seen it.

At the end of the day “The Godfather Part II” enhances our understanding and appreciation of the legendary characters presented in the original film. It surpasses it, in part, because it manages to make its predecessor even better.

The kiss of death (Italian: Il bacio della morte) is the sign given by a mafioso boss or capo that signifies that a member of the crime family has been marked for death, usually as a result of some perceived betrayal.

A kiss of death is something that occurs that guarantees the failure of an enterprise. Most people believe that the term kiss of death has its roots in the kiss that Judas gave to Jesus as a betrayal to the Romans, though the term kiss of death doesn’t appear until the 1940s.

The Godfather’s Revenge and The Godfather Returns are not considered canon by Paramount Pictures, so this death is not canonical in the films, which implied Tom died of natural causes some time in the 1970s. The novel also expands on how Hagen became an informally adopted member of the Corleone family.

Rocco Lampone

This was Fredo’s part in the deal with Hyman Roth. Fredo always knew it was a hit on Michael. He couldn’t have paid a maid to pull the curtains or he would have had to kill her, too. Fredo let the hitmen in and he whacked them on the way out.

In The Godfather: Part II Fredo was set to go fishing on Lake Tahoe with one of the Corleone children, but at the last minute he is told the child can’t go, and that he will be joined by one of the family thugs instead. Fredo goes out on the boat with the thug, who shoots him dead.

Al Neri

In The Godfather 2, Frankie Pentangeli walks into a bar. A man puts a cord around his neck and says “Michael Corleone says hello”. Later on we find out that Roth ordered the hit as Michael confronts him about it.

When she started the car to drive towards him, she unknowingly ignited a bomb planted in the car, intended for Michael, the subsequent explosion killed her instantly. The attack was orchestrated by Michael’s trusted bodyguard, Fabrizio, who was paid off by the Barzini family from New York.
