After last being seen on screen in 2010, Shrek is finally making a comeback with Shrek 5. Dreamwork Animations has officially confirmed that Shrek 5 is in development with original star, Mike Myers as the voice of Shrek reprising the role. Along with him, Cameron Diaz will return to the role of Fiona as well. Dreamwork Animations has confirmed that Shrek 5 has been released on July 1, 2026. Dreamwork posted a tweet saying “Not too Far, Far Away… Shrek 5 hits theaters on July 1, 2026, starring Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz. " This release date is pretty far off but considering Shrek 5 is finally happening, I guess it will be worth the wait.
Shrek 5 comes out with most of the original Shrek cast. Mike Myers returns as the voice of Shrek alongside Cameron Diaz as Fiona. The most beloved character in the franchise, Donkey will also be in the film with his original voice provided by Eddie Murphy. However, it is not confirmed if we will see Puss in Boots voiced by Antonio Banderas in the film but I hope he makes an appearance. Currently, these are the only confirmed cast members for Shrek 5.
