Simu Liu's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was a surprisingly successful entry into Phase Four of the MCU. The film was released at the height of the pandemic and earned over $432 million at the box office. A sequel was then announced, with filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton returning.
Although the origins of the Ten Rings have been kept ambiguous in the MCU, they appear to be extremely powerful. A new rumor about the sequel revealed that time travel will be involved in Shang-Chi 2. Simu Liu's Shang-Chi would reportedly be able to time travel and fight the Agents of Atlas using the Ten Rings.

While Chris Evans' Steve Rogers was only frozen in time for decades, the idea established the MCU's penchant for exploring more fantastical elements.
