Snapchat's history with generative AI has been quite an eventful road. Since its inception, My AI chatbot has been marred by controversy and negative user experiences. Even though the chatbot has really gained momentum among the platform's users, it is not without its quirks. App researcher and developer Steve Moser has revealed in his The Tape Drive newsletter that Snapchat is working on a new generative AI feature called "Dreams." According to him, this feature will allow you to upload your selfies on the platform, and based on the input image, Dreams AI will generate AI images with you in imaginative scenarios. Snapchat is working on many generative AI features including dream packs, image restoration, an "Expand Snaps" feature that uses AI to "Generate a zoomed-out version of your Snaps." and more. pic.twitter.com/K4lsCPaNZv — Steve Moser (@SteveMoser) August 21, 2023

Snapchat Dreams, in its barebones functionality, will work like any other AI image generator available on the Google Play Store and App Store. But unlike other seemingly boring ones, Dreams will instead place AI-generated selfies in "fantastic locations and scenarios."
