Crypto crook Sam Bankman-Fried's conviction was sped up by his cooperation with the chief software engineer of his FTX crypto exchange, prosecutors have revealed.

Sam Bankman-Fried convicted

The former darling of the cryptocurrency world was sentenced last week to 25 years behind bars in what has been described as one of the biggest corporate fraud cases in US history.

Help from FTX co-founder and former Chief Technology Officer Gary Wang was instrumental in expediting the case, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Thane Rehn, one of the team that led the prosecution.

Wang's assistance was critical in helping investigators understand how Bankman-Fried effectively stole billions in client funds from the FTX exchange, according to Reuters. This meant that money was moved to the trading outfit Alameda Research, which was also founded by Bankman-Fried.
