Star Wars Outlaws gets a lot right about the franchise, but many gamers have a hard time seeing past its state as an average video game.

So I finished Star Wars Outlaws…

With Star Wars Outlaws finally out in the wild, it's become clear that while it's not a game without its fair share of flaws, it's still a worthy and unique addition to the spacefaring fantasy that fans continue to crave in a video game.

But some of the game's weird design choices are much harder to see past than others. For example, choosing not to let Kay shoot while riding her Speeder is an odd choice for a Star Wars game that is set on the side of villains and crime lords. Luckily for us, the game's lead designer, Fredrik Thylander, has some concrete answers to clear the fog.

To reiterate, Star Wars Outlaws feels like a game that's both up to the mark on modern game design standards and a regression from it, lacking features that even Ubisoft has cemented into its game design ethos over its past two decades of releases.
