A day before Stardew Valley's 1.6 update release date, developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone posted a line from the update's patch notes on X (formerly Twitter): "You can now drink mayonnaise." The Stardew Valley community was shaken. It's just… why? When the update launched on March 19, the answer became clear: It's actually a pretty good early game item thanks to Stardew Valley's new Meadowlands Farm, which lets you start your farm with two chickens.

These two chickens mean two eggs per day. And two eggs per day means a lot of mayonnaise much earlier in the game than on other farms. You can sell it for a good profit, but it has an unexpected benefit: drinking mayonnaise gives you 50 energy and 22 health, and those stats only go up with the quality of the mayonnaise. This makes it a pretty hearty snack to take with you into the mines.
