Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke turns 27 years old, and it still has an achievement that other anime doesn't!

American Studios almost ruined Princess Mononoke!

Hayao Miyazaki is considered the greatest storyteller of this generation, known for his iconic anime films that have taken him and his Studio Ghibli to the top of the world. His notable works such as Spirited Away, Ponyo and his recent Oscar-winning project The Boy and the Heron have brought him global fame.

However, one of his older works is still considered Miyazaki-San's magnum opus; it's none other than Princess Mononoke, which was released in theaters back in 1997! The film was one of the biggest names, as it became the highest grossing film in Japan that year.

Interestingly, the film still captivates the otaku community as it continues to blossom and has complex themes with an unforgettable story set in medieval Japan during the 14th century.
