Budget 2021: Sunak unleashes spending spree partially funded by higher taxes

After last week's Spring Budget, officials from the Department for Business and Trade said the first analysis of the Help to Grow: Digital programme, which launched in 2021, estimated total spending at £31.4m.

But further detailed work revealed that the actual expenditure over the three financial years of the SaaS credit scheme (2021/22 to 2023/24) would actually be closer to £20m, the department told us.

Help to Grow: Digital was launched by Sunak in the spring of 2021, while serving as UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, in a move designed to help boost business growth.
