Supermium is a browser based on the Google Chrome 121 codebase that works well on Windows 7 and even, for the truly desperate, on Vista and XP.

Supermium – A modern browser for XP and Vista!

The third-party customization of Chrome works on versions of Windows that the official product no longer supports. It installs and runs on Windows 7, which stopped getting updates for Edge and Chrome in early 2023. It even lets you sign in to a Google account, and sync settings and extensions.

Chrome version 121 isn't quite up to date – at the time of writing, that is version 124.0.6329.0 – but it's significantly newer than the previous best official offering of version 109. Developer Shane "win32ss" Fournier previously developed the Vista Extended Kernel, which it possible for the exceptionally determined to run certain Windows 7 apps on its much maligned predecessor. He offers both 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Supermium, and the source code is available on GitHub.

Please do not try this at home. But if you need proof, here's Chrome 121 on Windows XP, more or less (click to enlarge)
