Exploring the ice biome can be tricky with slippery slopes and thin ice.

Skates are useful when exploring the ice area of Terraria. Equipping it and walking on ice surfaces will make you accelerate faster, slide much shorter, and falling on ice won't cause it to break when using the skates.

They are found on frozen chests or crates and also on boreal crates scattered around the world and the skates can also be used as crafting material for Frostspark Boots and Artic Diving Gear.
