There's a new series streaming on Netflix called "The 8 Show" and it seems a lot like Squid Game in the trailers, so if you're on the fence about whether to watch it or skip it, this review might help you decide .

Better than squid games? Netflix The 8 review

The 8 Show begins with the main character, portrayed by Ryu Jeon Yeol, being hunted by debt collectors day and night. Just as he is about to climb off a bridge, he receives a message on his mobile saying, "1,000,000 Won was deposited for the time you have given up." He is then taken to an unknown location in a white car. When he reaches there, he learns that he has been given a chance to participate in a game called "The 8 Show" and earn millions won. However, he had no idea that his life would become a rollercoaster after this decision.

The 8 Show started as an exciting original series from Netflix, but eventually it made me feel that despite the gripping plot, the creators failed to use the resources deliberately. The pacing is a little odd, since the series has been marketed as a dark comedy show since the beginning, but it also doesn't feel dark until the sixth episode, and it also fails to impress anyone with its low-key humor.

To be honest, someone who lacks patience can't stand this Korean show for too long. The show lacks depth and things don't pick up until episode 6. We see things get brutal in the final act, but even then it doesn't make up for the boredom I felt in the first five episodes. I honestly feel that a survival game like this shouldn't be low on brutality. Alice in Borderland and Squid Game are examples of a perfect survival game. And while The 8 Show makes you feel like it's following the same pattern as Squid Game, it's very different, or should I say, very boring.
