The CW went from being prime time for teen entertainment to canceling all of its biggest IPs after a slew of bad decisions.

The inevitable doom of the Arrowverse

For a short time in its history, the CW was the crown jewel of cable television. While not the creme de la creme of television shows, the network was able to maintain a large fandom online, regardless of the ratings behind the shows they put on. With popular shows like The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and The Arrowverse, the CW dominated primetime programming aimed at a teen audience, without missing the mark.

Until it did. What was once a celebrated part of television fandom fell from grace rather quickly. Several factors were responsible for this, from shifting perceptions of viewers to a focus on stories and action that were far too repetitive.

Fans are right to point out that the network's case needs to be studied, given that it is an interesting case of changing perceptions among audiences and how a company needs to be able to accurately predict the consequences of its decisions.
