Players usually unlock Theris Island halfway through the questline. Specifically, squads can unlock Theris Island as long as they complete at least 50% of all your faction missions.
Unlike other Battle Royal games, The Cycle Frontier is very different as it features AI enemies and human players so you have to approach your plans with Strategy. You need to decide whether to continue with a solo, duo or trio style.
