It didn't take long for The Goonies to become a classic staple of movie history. Who knew that an adventure comedy about a bunch of kids living in Goon Docks would become such an important and nostalgic part of many people's lives? When the kids go on a treasure hunt, their humorous and heartfelt moments resonate with viewers on one level or another. For many, The Goonies is a trip back to their own childhood.
Thus, a report talking about the reboot of the 1985 Richard Donner classic has fans both excited and a little nervous. Excited that they'll get to see their favorite story get an extension and nervous because, well, reboots don't work that well most of the time. However, there is a way for the reboot to work, if it happens, that is.
According to The Sun's report, a source confided that there had been lots of discussions about rebooting The Goonies for a long time. Although things never escalated, it appears that the film has finally been approved by Warner Bros. to move on.
