Naughty Dog struck gold with this franchise and the developers knew the material was too good and deserved to be adapted for a different audience. Craig Mazin serves as co-creator and showrunner of the HBO adaptation and recently confirmed that The Last of Us Season 2 will not cover the entirety of the controversial sequel and will be split into multiple seasons.
