The Dance of the Dragons is a promise that has yet to be fulfilled by HBO's House of the Dragon as Season 2 serves as a lackluster trailer for Season 3's arc.

House Of The Dragon fans aren't holding back about the season 2 finale

As the dragon dance officially begins, House of the Dragon is only now starting to find its footing after finishing its second season. Structured more like a fever dream reminiscent of Daemon's own experiences in Harrenhal, Season 2 of the HBO prequel doesn't do much to advance the overarching narrative of its struggle for succession.

The game of thrones clouding the minds of Houses Green and Black is mostly relegated to a political cat-and-mouse game rather than an actual battle-heavy season. Ultimately, the 8-episode arc tops it off with a 66-minute season finale that plays more like an extended teaser trailer for Season 3 than an actual showdown with the Westerosi world's signature brand of bloodshed, mayhem, and violence.

One of the strongest, if not the best, visual storytellers in the Seven Kingdoms, the George RR Martin-approved live-action adaptation of Fire & Blood was better left in the hands of co-showrunners, Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal. But it's not just Sapochnik's visual creativity that sets him apart from the rest. It is also his qualifications as a director.
