LeVar Burton found fame portraying the role of Geordi La Forge in the Star Trek franchise for quite a few years. Alongside the role, Burton also hosted a children's show called Reading Rainbow.

The concept wasn't anything grandiose or game-changing. It was simply Burton who read children's books and gave the children stories that taught morals and fun. However, LeVar Burton had a huge love for the show.

The suggestion to have a narrator read children's books to children was not so endearing to actors. However, this was a crucial step in the story as the show encouraged the children to read along with the host.
