Although The Sims 4 is still thriving 10 years after its original release, developer Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts are actively developing Project Rene, the codename for what will become The Sims 5. Maxis is "very early in development" of The Sims 4. Sims 5 starting in 2023, according to a blog post on the Electronic Arts website.
