THE THICKET Trailer (2024) Peter Dinklage

Wait, you're telling me there's a Tubi original that doesn't—how do I put it—suck? From the looks of the poster alone, The Thicket seems like a bad career move for Emmy winner Peter Dinklage, an understandable one for Juliette Lewis, and a desperation from a director who specializes in pop star music videos.

I couldn't have been more wrong. Elliott Lester's The Thicket is a masterstroke of pace and tone. As Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven decades earlier sheds the facade of the Old West. No, Lester's great Western trailblazer strips away the lore and presents a ruthless and murderous world unlike anything we've seen in the genre in years.

Lester's film captures the real dangers of the frontier, merciless to the weak. But no matter how tough and seasoned these characters are, they all cry out for their mothers at the end. It's only a matter of time.
